Profession of Faith:
Making a Profession of Faith is acknowledging Jesus Christ as
your Lord and Savior for the first time publicly before the Church, as represented by the pastor.
Baptized children and youth who have attended Confirmation classes may
join by Profession of Faith. Or if you are an adult and were baptized in another Christian
church, but are a not currently a member of any other church, you may join by
Profession of Faith. If you have never been baptized, we will teach you its meaning and schedule a time for
you to be baptized in a future service where you may join by Profession of Faith.
Reaffirmation of Faith:
If you have previously professed your faith
in Jesus Christ in another Christian church, have been baptized and would like to
reaffirm your faith in Jesus Christ, you may do so when you become a member of
Chappell Hill United Methodist. People who have been actively worshiping
with us, but have not officially joined Chappell Hill United Methodist Church
may also wish to become full members along with others desiring to reaffirm
their faith. Every time one new person joins Chappell Hill United
Methodist Church the rest of the baptized congregation is given the opportunity
to reaffirm their faith, as well.
Transfer of Membership:
If you have previously professed your faith in Jesus Christ, have been baptized,
are currently a member of another
Christian church and would like to become a member of Chappell Hill United
Methodist you may join by Transfer of Membership. The following week we
will contact your previous church and request a transfer of your membership
records. Baptized children or youth, transferring in, who have not been through Confirmation
classes will be received as Baptized members
and will have the opportunity to attend Confirmation classes at the appropriate
age. Upon their
desire to Profess Faith in Jesus Christ, they may then be
received as full members of the church.
